Assessment Center

Fitness assessment in Dubai

Most gyms in Dubai will sell you a body composition scan as an add-on. At Hero's Journey the Assessment Center is part of the membership, and the results are what shape your program for the next two months.

What gets measured

Body composition

Muscle mass, body fat and how both change between tests — not just a number on a scale. Nearly 7,500 athletes across our studios have completed repeat body composition tests, and a majority of that group gained muscle and lost body fat between their first and follow-up test.

VO2 max

The maximum volume of oxygen your body can use during exercise, and the single best-established measure of cardiovascular fitness. It is also the strongest predictor of longevity we train for — our Metcon zone is built around improving it.

Strength benchmarks

Working weights on the main compound machines, recorded at every session rather than estimated. In our strength records the typical improvement was around 25% on the chest press and leg press.

Endurance

How long you can hold output, and how quickly your heart rate recovers afterwards — measured with the same monitor you wear in every class.

Your Hero's Score

Each assessment is summarised in a single number: your Hero's Score. It is not a grade — it is a baseline. The system uses it to decide what your programs should emphasise over the following eight weeks, and the next assessment shows whether that worked.

Athletes reassess every two months. That cadence is deliberate: it is long enough for training to produce a measurable change, and short enough that a program which is not working gets corrected rather than repeated for a year.

Between assessments, every session feeds the same record. A tablet at each strength station shows the weight you lifted last time, the reps you completed and what to load today, and a heart rate monitor tracks every class in real time on the studio screen.

Assessment questions

Body composition, VO2 max, strength benchmarks on the main compound machines, and endurance testing. The results are summarised in a single Hero's Score.

Every two months. You start with a baseline assessment, then reassess on the same cadence for as long as you train with us.

Yes. The Assessment Center is part of the membership — there is no separate fee for baseline testing or reassessments.

VO2 max is the maximum volume of oxygen your body can use during exercise. It is the best-established single measure of cardiovascular fitness and a strong predictor of long-term health, which is why our Metcon zone is built specifically around improving it.

A single number summarising your latest assessment across strength, cardiovascular fitness, body composition and endurance. The system uses it to adjust what your program emphasises over the next eight weeks.

The Assessment Center is part of the Hero's Journey membership. Join the waiting list and we will confirm how to book your baseline assessment when the studio opens in November 2026.
